Yoga and writing in Bali - FAQ
When does the Bali yoga and writing retreat start and finish?
The first session is at 4 pm on 28th May 2023. It is recommended that you arrive into Denpasar airport no later than midday on the 28th in order to make it to Ubud in time for our first session.
The last session is at 4 pm on 2 June, followed by a farewell dinner.
Your retreat fee includes accommodation that night, plus breakfast on 3 June.
Do I have to share a bedroom?
No. Regardless of which property you stay in, you will have your own air-conditioned bedroom and private ensuite bathroom.
Can you tell me a bit more about our accommodation?
Two types of accommodation are available on a first-come-first-serve basis:
Where is the yoga held?
The Wantilan at Melati Cottages – a big, wooden-floored yoga space with open sides and a lovely ambience.
Do I need to be an experienced writer or yoga practitioner?
Not at all. Whether you're experienced or someone who's brand new to yoga or writing, the sessions will be tailored to your level.
Is there much free time?
Giving yourself time-out is a key part of the retreat experience. Because of this, the retreat program includes a daily four-hour break between morning afternoon workshops, giving you ample time to explore the region, book in for a massage or just relax.
Where is the retreat held?
In the hillside village of Penestanan, which lies around eight minutes' drive from the centre of Ubud. Numerous cafes, several shops and various massage options lie within a five minute stroll of your villa.
What about meals?
Breakfast is included in the retreat cost. All other meals are taken at inexpensive local cafes and warungs,
I have food intolerances. Will I be able to find stuff to eat?
Ubud is food intolerance heaven! Vegetarians are particularly well catered for, and Ubud's best-known vegan raw cafe, Alchemy, lies a two-minute walk from your villa front door. You'll also be able to source gluten-free bread locally.
Will I be left to my own devices outside of class times?
Only if you want to be. Most nights, you'll be invited to join Jane for a cheap, early dinner at one of many local warungs.
Can my non-participating partner or family member come with me?
Sorry, no. Booking a place at this retreat is about finally making time for YOU. :) It has been our experience that trying to double-dip and turn this into a holiday with your non-participating family member hampers this objective. If the guilt fairy is knocking at your door, consider having your loved one(s) join you after the retreat.
How much is the retreat?
$1595, which includes daily yoga and writing workshops, all accommodation, breakfasts and an air-conditioned, private ensuite bedroom in a shared villa with its own pool.
What happens if I have to cancel?
We will return your deposit in full up to two months before the retreat.
How do I book?
Secure your spot at the 2023 retreat with a $300 deposit – email Jane for bank details.
