When does the retreat start and finish?
  • The first session starts at 4 pm on 14 August 2025. 
  • The closing session is at 10 am and will finish by 11 am on 21 August.

What if I want to bring my non-participating partner?
No problem. There is no additional fee for bringing your partner. They are also more than welcome to join us for evening activities such as meals, concerts etc.

Where is the retreat held?
At the Amaroo on Mandalay Resort on tropical Magnetic Island. Numerous cafes and a supermarket lie within a 10 minute stroll of the resort. The island bus stop is just outside the resort's front door.

What about meals?
This is a self catering retreat. You have your own kitchenette, and there are many cafes and two supermarkets within a 12 minute walk of the resort.

What is the venue like?
Amaroo on Mandalay is a recently refurbished resort-style complex offering motel-style air-conditioned accommodation. Set in lush, tropical grounds, the resort features a pool, gym, onsite restaurant and bar.

What will the weather by like?
Beautiful. Perfect for swimming.

Is there WIFI?
Yes, in all common areas.

Can you tell me a bit more about our accommodation?
Each superior air-conditioned room features an en suite bathroom and a kitchenette with fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster.

Do I need to be experienced ?
Not at all. Whether or not you're an experienced creative, you'll find the sessions inspiring and accessible.

How are the classes structured?
All students are welcome to attend all or some of the workshops and classes.

Is there much free time?
Giving yourself time-out is as important a part of the creative process as the workshops. Because of this, we have added an extra day in the middle of the retreat to give you time to visit the island's beautiful beaches at your leisure, and explore the National Park.

Will I be left to my own devices outside of class times?
Only if you want to be. Most evenings, you'll be invited to join your teachers for an early dinner at one of the local cafes, a takeaway or a bbq at the venue.

How much is the retreat?
A private en suite superior room is AU$2350 for seven nights. We also have twin-share rooms available for AU$1650.

This fee includes eight days/seven nights' accommodation in an air-conditioned bedroom with kitchenette and en suite bathroom.
