Impro Immersion 2024 - FAQ

When does the retreat start and finish?
  • The first session starts at 4pm on 29 September 2024. 
  • The last session starts at 10.30 am and finishes at 11.30 am on 5 October 2024.

What if I want to bring my non-participating partner?
No problem. Just pay the $480 private room supplement and your partner can share your private room. Your partner is also more than welcome to join us for evening activities such as meals, concerts etc.

Where is the retreat held?
At the Amaroo on Mandalay Resort, Magnetic Island. Numerous cafes and a supermarket lie within a 10 minute stroll of the resort. The island bus stop is just outside the resort's front door.

What about meals?
This is a self catering retreat. You have your own kitchenette, and there are many cafes and two supermarkets within a 10 minute walk of the resort.

What is the venue like?
Amaroo on Mandalay is a recently refurbished resort-style complex offering motel-style air-conditioned accommodation. Set in lush, tropical grounds, the resort features a pool, gym, onsite restaurant and bar.

Is there WIFI?
Yes, WIFI – albeit a little iffy – is available in all common areas.

Can you tell me a bit more about our accommodation?
Each air-conditioned twin-share room features an ensuite bathroom and kitchenette with a small fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster.

Do I need to be experienced ?
Not at all. Whether or not you're an experienced creative, you'll find the sessions inspiring and accessible.

How are the classes structured?
All students are welcome to attend all or some of the workshops and classes.

Is there much free time?
Giving yourself time-out is as important a part of the creative process as the workshops. Plus Magnetic Island is such a beautiful spot, with beaches and a National Park to explore. Because of this, the retreat program includes a daily four-hour break between morning and afternoon sessions.

Will I be left to my own devices outside of class times?
Only if you want to be. Most evenings, you'll be invited to join Jane, Tanya, Pam and Jan for an early dinner at one of the local cafes, a takeaway or a bbq at the venue.

How much is the retreat?
If you book from June onwards, the price is $1650.

This includes 7 days/6 nights' accommodation in an air-conditioned, twin-share bedroom with kitchenette and ensuite bathroom.

What if I want my own room?
Sure thing. Please add $480 to the price.
