Vietnam Writing Intensive - FAQ
When does the retreat start and finish? The first session is at 4 pm on 18 February 2025. The retreat finishes before lunch on 24 February. Do I have to share a bedroom? No. To support your creative process, you will have your own lovely air-conditioned bedroom. Can you tell me a bit more about our accommodation? The delightful An Villa Resort is located in the small town of Cam Thanh, within walking distance of a colourful local neighborhood market and peaceful ricefields, and a 10 minute taxi ride from both the old town and Cua Dai beach. Do I need to be an experienced writer? Not at all. Whether you're an experienced writer or someone who's brand new to the craft, Jane's sessions will have you writing with greater authenticity and confidence. Is there much free time? Giving yourself time-out from writing is as important a part of the creative process as the writing itself. Because of this, your afternoons are free, to write, explore or simply rest. What about meals? Breakfast is included in the retreat fee. The property has its own cafe, while several cafes are located nearby. Jane, an ex food and wine journalist, will also escort the group to dinner in nearby Hoi An several during our stay. Do I need to bring a computer with me? Yes please. You will be emailing your agreed Bedtime Writing Commitment words to Jane each evening and you will need a means to do this. How is the retreat structured? Your day begins with breakfast and a writing workshop with Jane. There are no afternoon writing classes, leaving you free to explore, rest and create new words for your Bedtime Writing Commitment. You will also be offered a one-on-one session with Jane to discuss your writing. What is the Bedtime Writing Commitment? Every day you will deliver 1,000 words to Jane before bedtime. This is a fabulous way to help keep you on track with your writing, so that you return home with a whole bunch of new words. Will Jane be editing my work? No. Jane will read your Bedtime Writing Commitment words and offer feedback. Can my non-participating partner or family member come with me to the retreat? Sorry, no. Booking a place at this workshop is about finally making time for your writing. It has been Jane's experience that trying to double-dip and turn this into a holiday with your non-participating family member hampers this objective. If the guilt fairy is knocking at your door, consider having your loved one(s) join you after the retreat. How much is the retreat? $2595, which includes daily workshops with and guidance from Jane, daily yoga, six nights' accommodation, breakfasts and your own air-conditioned bedroom. How do I book? Secure your spot at the 2025 retreat with a $300 deposit – email Jane for bank details. |
