Juice 2023 - FAQ

When does the Juice 2023 retreat start and finish?
  • The first session starts at 4pm on Thursday 28 September 2023. 
  • The last session finishes at 11.30 am on Wednesday 4 October 2023.

Where is the retreat held?
At the Amaroo on Mandalay Resort, Magnetic Island. Numerous cafes and a supermarket lie within a 12 minute stroll of the resort. The island bus stop is just outside the resort's front door.

What about meals?
Breakfast is included in the retreat fee. All other meals can be taken at the resort, or at local cafes.

What is the venue like?
Amaroo on Mandalay is a recently refurbished resort-style complex with 60 air-conditioned rooms of varying sizes and configurations. Set in lush, tropical grounds just 11 minutes' walk from the ferry terminal, the resort features a pool, gym and onsite restaurant.

Can you tell me a bit more about our accommodation?
Each air-conditioned twin-share room features an ensuite bathroom and kitchenette with a small fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster. .

Do I need to be an experienced musician or performer?
Not at all. Whether you're an experienced musician or someone who's brand new to music, the sessions will help you build confidence as a singer and performer.

How are the classes structured?
All students are welcome to attend all or some of the workshops and classes.

Is there much free time?
Giving yourself time-out is as important a part of the creative process as the workshops. Plus, Magnetic Island is such a beautiful spot, with beaches and a National Park to explore. Because of this, the retreat program includes a daily four-hour break between morning and afternoon sessions.

Do I need to bring an instrument with me?
You don't need to, but it wouldn't hurt.  If you do plan to bring an instrument, make sure it's in a hard case suitable for travelling. Ukeleles are a great option, even if you're a beginner player – they're cheap, light, portable and very simple to play.

Will I be left to my own devices outside of class times?
Only if you want to be. Most evenings, you'll be invited to join Jane for an early dinner at one of the local cafes.

How much is the retreat?
$1495, which includes 7 days/6 nights' accommodation, breakfasts and an air-conditioned, twin-share bedroom with kitchenette and ensuite bathroom.
